Dragon, just to clarify, the elite division bonus applies to equipment, not to troops. So it doubles the effect of the equipment.
As others have said, in small engagements such as fighting NPCs, it can make a big difference, particularly when equipping just commanders, since the equipment bonus compounds the heroism bonus of commanders. Commanders without equipment can make up to 5/6 of the attack value of an army (assuming 5 commanders with fully leveled heroism). Add the right equipment and an elite division bonus to the commander skill and you can take down a horde or a throng with almost no troop losses -- and it significantly limits the losses for taking down a host or a legion. Elite divisions are never going to take the place of larger armies for PvP combat. But they do have their uses.

Ok...I have read both of the threads on sovereignty and I THINK I understand it so lets' see if I do:
Once you research sovereignty,Landholding, serfs, socage and claim sovereignty on a square, you can build any sovereign structure on that square if you have done the research for the structure. So you research threshing and build a farmstead on a square with no extra sovereign benefits and that will increase your food production in that town? AND if that square has a 14 food dolmen on it the benefit to food production will be even more? And some benefits are derived from terrain? Some squares will be better for clay production and others for iron depending on the terrain in that square? Costwise, the resource based sovereign structures have less upkeep cost than the others? This is what I think I know so please let me know if I'm at least in the ballpark..thanks DragonwortUPDATE: What is the difference between a Bowyer in your city and a Bowyer sovereign structure? Can you use the sovereign structure bowyer in place of the one in your city OR are they meant to be used concurrently? Just wondering...DW

I think you definitly got the main idea of it.
Resource sovs do cost NO upkeep in resources, only the standard gold and research for the claim itself. The resource bonus you get is directly proportional to the resource distribution of the square, means a lumberjack on a 14 wood square gives double the bonus than on a 7 wood square. All the other structures (giving you boni to item production times) also have a standard value for all squares. So you can build a target range on any square and get the (was it 5% ?) standard bonus, or build it on a square saying "+2% on range unit production" and get 7% bonus. And bowyer and bowyer just unluckily share the same name! - Bowyer as the sov structure gives lower building times to bows (not sure if only to the standard bows, or also the special ones). - Bowyer as the specialist building unlocks all the crafting research and on levelling gives lower building times for the special bows.

Sovereignty only affects production of "regular" advanced resources and does not apply to crafted items.
Good questions!

New tack today......How does one abandon a city? Just one city...not my whole account. Is this even possible OR do I need to get somebody to raze the city? AND , if so, does that somebody need to be non-allied, non napped, non-confederated OR can anybody do it? This will be necessary in the near future so thanks in advance for any input....

You need to have someone else raze or capture the city. The cannot be alliance, NAP or confed when the siege is launched and raze/capture is performed, but they can be allied during bombardment. That means you could leave your alliance during those steps or change diplomacy, or just find someone who is not allied with you. Epidemic likes sieging stuff.

Quests can give you some useful rewards (such as advanced resources or for orcs and elves, even military units), it increases your quest score, and there are two discoveries that can be randomly awarded, one for each type of quest.
The discovery associated with trade quests, Block and Tackle, increases the speed of caravan harvesting. The discovery associated with diplomatic quests, Inquisitive Populace, increases your diplomatic visibility.

When claiming sovereignty, does the occupying army need to remain until sovereignty is 100 % or just until sovereignty is initiated?
