Since our great King Sigurd is obviously of Norse decent, it seems only fitting that we use a name befitting of him:  Ægir - meaning Sea or God of the sea

Sea of Beer might explain why so many find the lengthy voyage so attractive.
Sea of Longing might honour the long wait for it.
Yaraquncha Strait would name it for the first people encountered in the south.
Sea of Winds would come from the description given in the first Herald post about it.
March or Bastion Sea would recognise the role of the water in long protecting Elgea from events of the south.
Sweltering Sea would refer to its equatorial location between jungles north and south.

Alternatively, the name could be chosen by a tournament winner...

The first response was the best -- how could you really name it anything other than The Bitter Sea? A fallen forum board resurrected as an in game name
