In continued celebration of Illyriad’s 15th Anniversary Jubilee year, the DEVS are pleased to announce that the upcoming seasonal Fall tournament will be enhanced to include an expansive prize pool of dragon units

In celebration of the Jubilee, several new content elements were added to the server, including a reworking of the Dragonkin faction and launch of a completely new Dragon faction, featuring 5 new dragon units. Since their launch, there has been growing excitement over the eventual launch of the dragon units onto the map, as well as an opportunity for players to win these units, similar to the tournament held in 2014 in celebration of King Sigurd’s 25-year reign as King of Illyria, when undead dragons were featured in the prize pool.

Eleven years later, players and alliances will once again have the opportunity to win dragon units – but this time on a much larger scale.

How the Tournament Will Work

We’re making this tournament extremely easy to understand: it will run exactly like the planned August Fall Tournament, because it is the August Fall Tournament. We’re not changing the format or rules in any way. We’re also keeping the exact same rewards (medals and totems) – we’re just adding to it with an exclusive, extra prize pool of dragons.

If you’re not a usual tournament player but will want to compete in this tournament for a chance at winning a dragon, the best place to start is GM Thundercat’s forum post on REGULAR SEASONAL TOURNAMENTS & REGIONAL TOTEMS. This tournament system has been in operation since the beginning of 2020 when the game celebrated its 10th Anniversary,  and is working very well.

The Dragon Prizes

The original prize pool for the undead dragons was small, with only the top 3 global winners taking home 1 unit of the deadly beasts. This time around, we want to make sure that, while the winning alliance wins a truly kingly gift of dragons and the top-3 alliances are handsomely rewarded overall, other players and alliances have a chance to win a dragon as well. We’re hoping this will create a “dragon meta” period in the game, give the server a tournament that will encourage spirited participation, and lead to some exciting action!

As you can see, alliances that rank in the TOP 10 for total time on all tournament squares will win at least 1 dragon of some kind. The top 4 alliances will win dragon packages that include undead dragons as well. A table of the dragon prize pool is as follows:

Placement

Living Dragons

Undead Dragons

Combined Attack Value

First Place

1 each of all 5 living dragons

1 dragolich

15,522

Second Place

1 each of fire wyvern, frost wyvern, green drake, and orange wyrm

1 dragon revenant

11,225

Third Place

1 each of frost wyvern, green drake, and orange wyrm

1 bone dragon

7,431

Fourth Place

1 each of green drake and orange wyrm

1 bone drake

4,712

Fifth Place

1 each of fire wyvern and orange wyrm

2,969

Sixth Place

1 each of green drake and orange wyrm

2,312

Seventh Place

1 fire wyvern

1,969

Eighth Place

1 frost wyvern

1,969

Ninth Place

1 green drake

1,312

Tenth Place

1 orange wyrm

1,000

Additionally, every player in a participating alliance that involved at least 1 troop in a tournament square battle will receive 1 exclusive dragon priest, the military unit of the Dragonkin faction. You must have participated in a combat event on the tournament square to be eligible. This means that it's not enough to simply occupy the square; you have to have fought on that square to get a prize if your alliance wins it. Only 1 dragon priest will be given out per qualifying participant, regardless of how many squares a player may have fought on.

The dragon prizes will be delivered to the winners’ capital cities in the usual fashion, after the conclusion of the tournament.

Expand Your Rosters to Include Newer & Unaffiliated Players

While this isn’t a requirement, we also encourage alliances to try and fill up their roster space for the tournament and get as many players involved as possible (assuming your alliance has some extra slots). We’d love to see new, smaller, and unaffiliated players get into the fun and possibly the prize pool, so keep an open mind about expanding your rosters if you have some empty slots. It’s a great way for newer players to learn more about tournament play and get exposed to what alliances have to offer.

Gentle Reminder: 2 Accounts per Player

Seeing as we’ll be giving out lots of great and powerful prizes to participants in the winning alliances, we’d like to offer a gentle reminder that players are only allowed 2 accounts in the game of Illyriad. GM Duran will be doing fresh audits leading up to and during the tournament to ensure compliance with this rule, and there will be serious consequences for players who seek to game the tournament through multiaccounting. So, let’s please avoid that nasty business and play fair. Thank you very much in advance!

We look forward to launching the tournament and seeing who comes out on top. Best of luck to all!

It great that will be extra motivation for participation.
But I would prefer to spread and share the prize to the participant members of the regional winner, the more the members participate the less the prize per member

Does this mean to get the dragon priest that one must have fought on a square that his/her alliance WINS or just that the player must have fought a battle on a tournament square? The above is a bit ambiguous.

Hi, Ellisande. Yes, to clarify: players do not have to be part of the winning alliance on a square to earn a dragon priest; they only have to have fought on the square. So, if you landed 1 soldier on a square and another army came along and squashed it, you qualify. Or, if you sent 1 soldier at a square with an encampment and it got crushed comprehensively, you qualify.

Hope that helps!

Hello, Illyrians! As you know, Illyriad's 15th Anniversary Fall Jubilee Dragon Tournament is drawing to a close. Ahead of the tournament ending, I wanted to give you all a heads-up on the timing of receiving prizes:

  • First- through third-place tournament medals will be received automatically, in the same manner that all winners' medals are received after a seasonal tournament.

  • The dragon(s) and dragon priest prizes will be processed by the DEVS, beginning on Monday, September 1st. Please allow us 1-2 days to complete the entire process, as giving these prizes away is not built into the seasonal tournament automation, and the prize pool is quite large.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Duran or me. Thanks!

Congratulations to all of the winners of Illyriad's 15th Anniversary Fall Jubilee Dragon Tournament! The following alliances placed in the top-10 prize pool:

1 The Pirate Kings [YARR!]
2 Shraps Mem Academy [SMA]
3 Skeleton Boar [SkB]
4 Fairy Road Authority [Roads]
5 The Colonist Empire [TCol]
6 The Dragon's Forest [TDF]
7 Dwarven Lords [Dlord]
8 Murder of Crows [mCrow]
9 The Atreides Bunch [Bunch]
10 Maelstrom [VortX]

the top 3 finishers all received limited-edition, dragon-themed seasonal tournament medals in gold, silver, and bronze, respectively.

We are beginning to work on distributing the dragon prizes and the dragon priests, so please be patient with that.

Thank you again for your amazing participation!

I don't mean to seem ungrateful, but the dragons for the tourney aren't really worth the time and effort it took to participate in the tournament. I was glad to have an excuse to get more of the alliance engaged in the tournament, but a single elite unit of Calvary can kill even the strongest Dragon.

Could we please reconsider adjusting the stats on the dragon to make them better than 300 elite cav?

Why did my Revenant Dragon disappear?  I had him in the roster and a week later he's gone.
I guess I don't understand how dragon troops work.
