i'll back down then :-)

i just get mad when i think i see unfair preferense happening.

good on them for putting illy back in

As Strategos has mentioned... we're back in the running!

Hurrah, and thanks to the good folks at Mozilla for reinstating us.

A slight update.

It would appear that Illyriad is back on the list (at least when I refresh it).

This gives you a little over 3 months and an entire holiday season to develop your open Web game during Game On 2010.

The competition kicks off at 12:00am / 00:00 GMT on September 30th, 2010 and will end at 11:00am / 11:00 GMT on January 11th, 2011. You are welcome to work on the concept for your game before the competition starts: napkin doodles, insomniac wire-framing, robots in disguise- even some hacking if you like.

i call total bull**** on this

you guys were disqualified from the competition for having a game (Illyriad) that began development in 2009 and was released in Feb 2010...?

so what about these games which are still on the Competition pages and eligible to win?

Adventure Game
in their competition entry description they write "Development started in 2003 and is using somewhat dated technologies."

FreeCiv.Net
in their competition entry description they write "The Freeciv.org project has origins back to 1996, with many different contributors." and the copyright notice on their own pages reads "Copyright © 2008-2011 Freeciv.net"

Battlecell
the Battlecell terms & conditions are dated 02/09/2009

Dave's Galaxy:
the Development Discussion Group on google goes back to July 2010

Orbium:
which was released as an iPhone App back in June 2010

and i've only looked at a few of the entries...

NOT only this set of blatant double standards but there also seems to be some fairly obvious vote-stuffing going on here eg one developer appears to have managed to get himself no less than 4 competition entries simply by changing some of the text:

https://gaming.mozillalabs.com/games/51/choice-of-broadsides
https://gaming.mozillalabs.com/games/52/choice-of-romance
https://gaming.mozillalabs.com/games/50/choice-of-the-dragon
https://gaming.mozillalabs.com/games/53/choice-of-the-vampire

so whatever is going on at mozilla you werent disqualified for the reason stated.

does anyone else smell something fishy here?

Well yes - we began dev in the latter part of 2009 and went live at the end of Feb 2010.

But the competition rules do say:

"This gives you a little over 3 months and an entire holiday season to develop your open Web game during Game On 2010.

The competition kicks off at 12:00am / 00:00 GMT on September 30th, 2010 and will end at 11:00am / 11:00 GMT on January 11th, 2011.
