Topic: Undo button Posted: 19 Apr 2011 at 20:43 |
I am sure I am not the only one that has attempted to upgrade a building, and discover I accidentaly upgraded a different building. Some say I could simply wait for the building to finish, but I would have lost precious resources, and in later levels it will be a very long wait.
So I am proposing a "Undo" button for buildings in production. Military and diplomatic units have a two minute recall, so why can't there be a two minute building undo?
Anyways there is my suggestion^

Hi Kurfist, Thanks for your thoughts on this. This has been raised before, and our objection is that - unless we introduced some sort of fairly substantial penalty (such as "you only get 2/3rd of your resources back if you cancel") - we have concerns that people could use this as a way of escaping pillaging armies and/or thieves. ie: 1. Wait until thieves/attacking units are < 2 minutes away 2. Hit "upgrade" on your most expensive building 3. Laugh uncontrollably as the thieves/attackers steal nothing 4. Cancel upgrade and return resources to your storehouse 5. Profit! If we did introduce a penalty then I suspect a lot of people would be even *more* annoyed at the game system than they might be by the absence of the upgrade cancel button... Regards, SC

I can understand one through four, but five does not make obvious sense to me. Perhaps you or someone else could help me understand #5.
Thanks for the response StormCrow.

@Kur: I think "profit" implies the person would have abused the undo feature to finish with more resources than they would otherwise have had without it, that's all.

The profit is the gain achieved by defeating the thieves. Sorta a opportunity profit (the opposite of an opportunity cost?) - it is the apparent profit resulting from avoiding a loss. Everytime you drive your car without an accident, you have "profited" in the amount of the damage you did not experience.

So... every time I smoke a cigarette or drink a beer without getting struck by lightning is a "profit"? Awesome!

Possibly a undo button that returns the percent complete of a building/research so if you spent 100k res on a building and cancel it 4% into the process you get 4k res back but if your 80% complete you get 80k res back so if you absolutely need to change a que you have the option but it is very costly

How if undo button only available if there is no current hostile incoming to the town?
When hostile incoming is reported, the undo button disappear, when the hostile incoming is done, undo button is exist again.
Also, undo give penalty at minimum 10% of resources.
