What is Trade Version 2? I've read that there will be a lot more stuff to trade but no clue where that stuff will come from. Will it be from resource gathering? Will there be a lot more buildings? I've read some sort of tie in with Sovereignty, will there be more sov buildings to create "things"? Will pathfinding be tied to TV2 or is that separate? How about other future plans like water travel, etc...?
On that topic, is there an official thread on where this game is going? It would be nice if there was a sticky thread from the devs letting us know what features they are "planning" to add as well as a general time frame <6 months (soon), 6 months - 2 years (not too soon), >2 years (sometime) so that players can do some long term planning to adapt to where the game is heading. Since it takes 6 months - 1 year to make major changes in your little kingdom, it would be nice to direct those changes in a specific direction rather than spend all that time developing something that when complete doesn't really fit the logic of the game as it's evolved in that time frame. Hiya,
Here's a thread with some info about the concepts of Trade v2. Keep in mind that thread is quite old but if you are looking for some basic info, that's probably the place to start. As far as an official thread on where things are going, no we don't have anything like that right now. Giving specific time frames is not something we'll be doing. Illy has a small team and we've got to stay flexible so priorities can and do change (often). Making guesses about what will be happening in 2 years probably wouldn't be advantageous for any of us. And to be really, really honest, I'd rather say nothing than make a promise to our players that we don't keep. In very, very general terms I'd say that the big deal things you can be looking forward to for the future are the new chat system, pathfinding and (as you mention) Trade v2. There are some other projects sprinkled in there (some of which are slightly more under wraps, as it were) and fun things to look forward to like more tournaments. As we are ready to share more specific info about all of these things, I'll make sure we do. Luna

Salarius, I was given very good advice by a veteran player when I started playing: Play Illy as it is now, not as it might be someday. I've been playing Illy for seven months, and my experience says that not even the developers can be sure about the details of unreleased changes. Their plans may be altered because things that seemed like a good idea at the time didn't work out. So it's better not to plan in detail for things that may not be released for a long time -- or ever.

Haha, the thread you referenced for information on TV2 will probably be 2 years old when TV2 comes out...not to mention how old the information will be when a lot of the other stuff in the thread is developed.But! The information is perfect! It was just buried in the forum. Why don't the devs at least sticky and lock that thread (no need for comments from the peanut gallery) and at most make it a living document? I'm not suggesting weakly updates but if they'd like people to stay interested and they feel the game can be evolved that much then updates every 6 months (check off the stuff complete, re-word sections that are obsolete, re-order anything that's now logically out of order) would go a long way towards keeping us at least informed of the goal. It's not like there isn't a precedent for releasing this information, it was released 1 1/2 years ago just nothing since? Most importantly, many thanks for the link
