I've been playing illy for a while and my dwarf eyes are getting old. I sell stuff whenever I play but sometimes it takes a while for me to make sure I didn't make a huge mistake when I take a look at my recent transactions. Take a look:
Great, I sold some saddles but what the hell did I sell it for? Is that half a billion?? No that doesn't sound right. Sometimes I try to cover up some of the zeros with a finger but these calloused stumpy dwarf fingers of mine makes it hard. I just wish I had some commas in my life that's all. The same problem happens during the Place Buy/Sell Order Confirmation screen: Did I just offer up damn near my entire net worth for a sword? Eh better hit cancel just to be sure... I know this isn't a ground breaking suggestion but I'm getting old and I don't have much time before I must return to the Stone from which I was created. This suggestion would save me some time (which is a rare commodity for me these days) and would allow me to quickly undercut my competition without fear of miscounting all the zeros. Thanks.

I agree, commas would be exceedingly helpful! Thanks for bringing it up!

In some countries, the comma IS the decimal point.

Another possibility would be to use spaces rather than commas. That would avoid the confusion of comma vs. decimal point.

why not let localization parameters use whatever defaults for numbers display is set? — Apple and (even) MS Windows apps usually respect the user's account settings…

I've seen scientific notation used in at least one place in Illyriad, eg 5.0E+7 which is equal to 50,000,000
That would be another alternative. Said the scientist. |
