For too long, Tier 3 items have been safe from destruction! If you have rare herbs, animal parts or rare minerals in your town, nothing can destroy them! This must change and here's how:

Orcs sometimes get scrawny wolves as a quest reward but they are fairly pathetic as units go so I'd like to propose an alternative use; make them a diplo unit. Of course, the other races would need an equivalent. Elves could have foxes, humans could have dogs and dwarves could have goats.

As units, their purpose would be to destroy items in towns. Specifically, they could destroy the stuff that thieves can't such as livestock, horses and harvested items. I think that there should be 2 tiers of these units. Tier 1 units would be able to destroy livestock, horses and basic herbs, hides and minerals whilst Tier 2 ones would be able to destroy rare herbs, minerals and animal parts as well.

Each race could also have units which have their own specific strengths/weaknesses

Orcish Unit Names:
T1: Scrawny Wolf
T2: Trained Wolf

Advantage: Can destroy more if successful
Disadvantage: More easily detected (lower attack)

Elvish Unit Names:
T1: Gaunt Fox
T2: Smart Fox

Advantage: Faster travel speed
Disadvantage: Poor defence

Human Unit Names:
T1: Stray Dog
T2: Large Hound

Advantage: Less easily detected (higher attack)
Disadvantage: Low travel speed

Dwarf Unit Names:
T1: Skeletal Goat
T2: Cunning Goat

Advantage: High Defense
Disadvantage: Less Destructive

There's no need for a change to the game because SIN has developed a way to destroy T3 res in an enemy city.

Raze the city.

but razing takes time... and effort... and troops...

Equally you could say that thieves are unnecessary as you should just capture towns.

I think this change would disproportionately hurt the crafter/harvester types, while the people with less to lose would be the ones more likely to utilize the unit lol.

Yes, but it's difficult (not random, but also not an every day event) to get the scrawny wolf units at the moment. There's no reason that has to change, it should be as difficult to train them as it is difficult to craft the items they can affect.

The crafter/harvester types could build defensive forces by questing (which would finally have a purpose) just as easily as an attacker or store their stuff in hubs.

Anyway, surely they already have these sorts of problems with thieves which are much easier to build and deploy to steal the things not covered by the scrawny wolf units.

I really like the idea of this being a quest-based diplo thing. Born of quests and an advancement on the incentive to complete them?

Also, advanced crafters are certainly also powerful on the magic front. There would obviously be some defense there as there is from other diplo units.

This does sound fun and adds an extra use for learning magic too. I quite like the quests but after a while, they do get boring as there is no real advantage in doing them. I thought the scrawny wolves would be good until i sent them out and they died instantly against a very low number of NPC's.
