Welcome!

The datafile towns xml is an awesome step by the GMs to give useful data about the game to their player base. However, the barrier to entry for such data was the ability to parse and handle said xml.

In an effort to democratize this data, I've created:

http://illyriad.heroku.com/ - http://illyriad.heroku.com/

which parses this data and creates a nice interconnecting links.

There are a couple of other features, most notably the ability to find other towns near a given town with various other search parameters.

Still to come: parsing of the alliances xml files, creating an interconnected mapping of alliance relationships, and creating an actual usable map. The last item has actually been done, but not at an acceptable performance level.

To be quite honest we've had 90% of this stuff for a couple of months now, but what with my dwindling ability to actually play and the fact that these tools don't actually represent a massive competitive advantage, I figured I'd open the tool up to the general public.

Also, in the interests of openness and general community niceness, I've open sourced the entire project, which can be found here: http://github.com/benwilson512/illyriad GPL3 license

Current known bugs:
1) Certain pages display errors related to failed search queries, when no such queries have been posted.

Looking into it, will edit on fix.

EDIT: Problem traced and solved, thanks for the notice.

OH! I should also note that i'll be adding a feature that copies the table to your clipboard in a manner that you can just post to the ingame alliance boards, and it'll have it all formate correctly for you.

nice.

devs sure should take more of this data out. i understand that it doesnt seem that there a lot of us interested in this, and it could be unballancing, but sometimes getting all my data out of the screen to my worksheets is a pain.

ill be trying that proximity finder...

The data gets updated on a vaguely 24-48hr basis by parsing the datafile_towns.xml (really oughta put it on a cron job) so that will show up shortly. Posting here won't help sorry.

All of this data is now wrong, as the free move changed everything.  Also, it has failed to update for a month at least.
