Does anyone have logs of the recent system messages? Please post them here with the date/time they appeared so we can start to work out the full timeline. Even if you only have 1 or 2 that would be great.
Thanks
-Eowan

Known messages so far:
19th July
[00:01]<System> the faint smell of sulfur wafts across the landscape from the south.

20th July
[22:38]<System> An ill wind blows in from the south.

21st July
[21:31]<System> The earth quivers below. Tiny pebbles gently hop and dance on cobblestone roads as birds fly panicked, flushed from their trees by the quaking earth. The tremor only lasts a few moments, dissipating as abruptly as it had arrived.

27th-ish July
[20:36] From the south, a cacophonous boom rings out across the landscape. Commoners scream in horror as the ground shakes violently beneath them. The sky, only moments before the calm purple of dawn, now blazes a brilliant and unnatural bright orange-red; as if the horizon burns with fire.

28th-ish July
[16:21]<System> A feeling of dread washes over the populace; Nobles and peasants alike encounter the sensation, and it permeates down to the marrow.

[13:33]<PublicRelations> the only one I have is this one: [21:31]<System> The earth quivers below. Tiny pebbles gently hop and dance on cobblestone roads as birds fly panicked, flushed from their trees by the quaking earth. The tremor only lasts a few moments, dissipating as abruptly as it had arrived.

In case you guys aren't paying attention, The Tower ( https://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/538/-2936" rel="nofollow - https://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/538/-2936 ) is sending out a LOT more troops now in Calumnex and they're leaving the island it sits on as well.

The Tower troops are also porting into Ursor via The Rift ( https://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/533/835" rel="nofollow - https://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/533/835 ) which are travelling in, currently, 3 directions away from it in groups and setting up occupations to the north, south, and east.

Just noticed:

Rift:  https://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/538/834" rel="nofollow - https://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/538/834

Omen:  https://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/538/-2936" rel="nofollow - https://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/538/-2936

Both have 538 as the first coordinate... is it something?

Maybe the devs just scrolled up to northern elgea to place the rift after placing the tower (or vice versa) so they could have one in the north and one in the south. I doubt it's significant otherwise.

I've seen two reports from others in Calumnex over the past two days (Aug-1, Aug-2) who were hit by the Tower faction while they were on their rounds.

Stukahh was hit by a smaller group of 62 while TooFarGone encountered a party of 695.  I seems TFG's find was a little larger than what we've seen in the past from this faction?  I'd be happy to accumulate reports if you want to forward them to me and I'll share any observations with the forum community.

Happy faction hunting!

Has anyone considered that this might also just be the next step in taking faction AI to a live state? Starting with the -95 faction makes sense, as they just want to fight everyone anyway.

That could be so, the tower have always been a bit active but this is a step up.
however I have never seen them port out of the rift before, this is new I'm sure.

Eagle was hit down in Calumnex too... only 48 mages.  Any reports from the north?

The Tower has been terrorizing Order of the Orc too. Our members have had sieges broken (replaced and attacked twice again),  harvesters killed, and cities attacked. The 2 most recent attacks were 104 and 76. A single player reports "2 (city) attacks and 3 groups of harvesters killed" so far, with a number of other players reporting similar aggression. I scouted the The Tower shortly after the graphic icon changed, and found a single army with 647 mages within.

Out of curiosity, has anyone had any attacks from any of the other hostile factions while this Tower business has been going on? Perhaps just luck, but I havent had any Drek or Free Orc attacks since just before The Tower activity, and they were pretty frequently harassing my Elf prior to that - when I surrounded my cities in preparation for the HoC New Moon thing I expected at least a few Drek attacks, but not even one came.

Based on experience of the Tower, I have seen 38 attacks in 24 hours across a number of locations.

000-100 mages, 13
101-200 mages, 22
201-300 mages, 01
901-1,000 mages, 01

Every once in a while a big attack.

So I guess it is possible to scout the hub?

From Froed: Scout Mission to Square [538|-2936] in Calumnex Completely Successful!  (1007 mages present).

Froed was able to scout another group in Calumnex with 125 mages.

Some notes from the south...

Shardlands is fully infested by The Tower.  The local orcs don't seem to be scaring them away.  We must learn the Shadow Mages secret which allows them to continue through that awful orc smell.

I've seen a half-dozen or so reports from this region and most of the parties are 100-ish or less.

Carry on.

If you do it from the Faction profile page, it gives the options for sending diplos or troops (tho troops will give you an error when you actually try to send, "You cannot send armies to interact with trade hubs or their immediate surrounding squares.")

[21:18]<System> The air seems to shift in anticipation as a warm wind blows in. A nearly inaudible hum ethereally echoes across the mountain ranges and valleys, sending a wave of unease across the lands.

Sounds like System had Taco Bell... or is this just preparation for the "ware" against Ten Kulch?

The Rift has spawned undead before, in a tournament or some other game event.
