What is the Tower Faction Army in BL that keeps destroying my gatherers? Are they like NPC's put out by the system? Ty

Some of the Factions are 'active'. This means that their actions depend on their attitude towards both you and your alliance. They may attack everything belonging to you or they may help you (although I've never seen that). If you are in an area that a faction who hates you is active then you are going to be attacked. Below is an interactive map I made that shows where I have spotted various faction troop encampments.

I know what they do. My question is what are they? Are they other players? The System? Developers?

What happened in GC in regards to this faction?  I can only assume that their hub is having a sale?  Did they cut taxes on sales?

Here is what an unnamed member of the same alliance as I has to report:

[27 Jul 20:47]<JodaMyth> [20:36]<System> From the south, a cacophonous boom rings out across the landscape. Commoners scream in horror as the ground shakes violently beneath them. The sky, only moments before the calm purple of dawn, now blazes a brilliant and unnatural bright orange-red; as if the horizon burns with fire.

Thank you Rill, can always count on you to drop the dramatics and tell it like it is.

And you can count on me to be minimally helpful!

I take it that the <system> message in GC was real?

Now that the humorous wise guys have picked themselves up off the floor from laughter, is there a solution to these attacks in Calumnex? What? Do they want me to move my cities? I have been repeatedly attacked and lost numerous gatherers and several armies. Now they are attacking my cities proper. Are these attacks happening against "prestige buyers" as well? I wonder.
I am looking for good solid advice, more than minimal!

As Tens mentioned, if the faction is hostile towards you, then you have a good chance of being attacked by them the closer your cities are to their hubs. They attack anyone, pres purchases or not. Once the DEVs finish the faction AI, there should be a way to increase standings with different factions, and therefore stop the attacks from coming. However, as that AI has not been completed, all one can do to not be attacked is not place their cities by hostile faction hubs.

Consider Slaying Runes, as well as Runemasters Grounding, to help relieve the attacks made directly against your city. Harvesters near hostile faction hubs should be guarded by armies.

The Tower/Omen faction troops may only be being more aggressive right now due to the upcoming event/tournament (or whatever those mysterious system messages are hinting towards). After that event is over, the faction hostility may drop down again (tho cant be certain).

Would I be safer in Farahards?

You would be safer in Elgea. There is a very dangerous player run faction in BL

I have many cities (10) between me and my alt. Moving them would knock both of us down thousands of pop points. They are small to large towns. I was thinking of making them runemaster cities with the towers and other bldgs that are needed. Does this strike you as a viable option? What spells should I cast as I am getting hit with Mages from Tower Faction? Ty

The wise silent one answered your question about which spells to cast to help with NPC factions.

maybe runes will work against other factions, but the shadowmages from the tower bypass runes. at least they did at my town.

The best defense on mountainous terrain would be t1 elite divisions of ranged troops with say clothed backed leather and marksmens bows. for offensive ops, infantry are best against mages but a lot depends on terrain. Being behind a nice wall helps too.

Ah, yes, I did not consider that - Corwin is correct, the Runes wont have an effect on The Tower units, as they are classified as Undead (which bypass runes).

Seems the most viable option left would be to level your wall up, and maybe leave an army or two in the city equip with defensive gear (either terrain specific or bonuses VS undead).

Anyone seen any other factions doing unusual things? The Tower npcs have been attacking (from the summoning place) every harvesting spot I have in Ursor plus occasionally one of my towns. But, also, Blood Reavers suddenly have started dropping by my harvesting spots and passing on. That used to happen occasionally but now happens almost daily.

Do the Reavers have a hub near by?  I saw some near the Rift and was wondering if they are spawning from there as well as from their hubs?

The Blood Reavers have hubs in Ursor and Qarosslan. I've also been getting messages about the Blood Reavers passing by my occupying armies. It's not just the Blood Reavers, but other factions as well. I've been having visits from Azure Throne too.
I haven't seen The Tower attacking any harvesters in Qarosslan. I've only seen them occupying squares where cotters and miners were harvesting without harming them. They have attacked one of my towns and 3 occupying armies, but that was only after I killed their armies.

I saw a number of reports from the Shardlands.  All armies were 150 or much less.  It appears while the number of active parties is up there is no big jump in army size.

Reavers have one hub less than 100 from the rift and another not that much farther. They wander around Ursor a lot (though I get the impression they are more active right now than usual)

Bumping this thread!

Hey guys...

Recently few of our alliance members who are settled in Ursor region are getting attacked by Tower faction... Attacks are on cities, military encampments, as well as harvesters....

Is there a reason for that? I thought the Tower were BL faction!

Is there anyway to stop them and be friends again like before?

Or may be offer cow sacrifices?

Or Is there a way to close the portal then?

Holding armies to guard skinners and miners are required. They can attack towns too. They can drop hearts too. They are -95 along with certain other factions. I have been attacked up north too.

If you're willing to put a small amount of effort in the Towns->Trade->Faction Hubs tool in durcTools will show both your and your alliance standings with all the factions.

To gather the data you need to visit the faction page for each faction (not the hub). You can then sort by Hub, Region, Faction, Dist (from your current town), Your Standing, Your Aliances Standing. Since the standings do not currently change you only need to gather the info once.
