Hey folks!

In preparation for the tournament in just a few days, we'll be implementing a couple things.  

  • At the stroke of midnight on the first, tournament tiles will randomize, more information can be found here on the tournament:  http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/next-server-wide-tournament_topic7073.html" rel="nofollow - http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/next-server-wide-tournament_topic7073.html
  • Once the tournament begins, any players involved in tournament squares will have their alliances locked for the duration of the tournament, this is to prevent shenanigans and tomfoolery.
Just wanted to give everyone a heads up so nobody is surprised by anything being done by the devs this tournament.

By involved in tournament squares do you mean they have sent troops to one or they have submitted their API?

he likely mean anyone who has troops on any of the  tournament squares (this was the case for the last few  tournament)

I don't know about that.  Sounds like they've changed the standard.
the other thing it could be that if you take part in any combat on the tournament sqs you won't be able to leave your alliance even if you zero troops on the sqs until the tournament ends.  which will limit how people can "play" the Tournament and will mean they have to make a few coding changes to how its done normally.

No we aren't doing anything new, same exact procedures as last tournament.

41 plains tiles have been "randomly" selected.

Going forward I think the devs should cap the amount of plains tiles.  Most defenders are hesitant to put large armies on plains.  As a result it causes  less competition.

I hate to admit but Stukkah's right. Maybe cap tournament sqrs for any given terrain type at 1.33 x total sqrs of that terrain type / total sqrs where combat can take place? Or something like that.

imo C was the most balanced out of all of them  but D would have made things more fun

These sq show up twice on that page

 it seems on the dev/illy Tournament Squares the sq show up again for each army on the sq. (ie if there is two it show up twice) ofc I don't have anything to back this up just a guess

Pamanyallpa shows up 12 times

Added tourney squares to the faction sightings map at https://www.factionaction.dewt.me.uk/html/index2.html" rel="nofollow - https://www.factionaction.dewt.me.uk/html/index2.html

Click the Tournament Squares option to have them displayed as big red circles. Hovering over them will give you the region name, coordinates, combat terrain and biome.

I think it would be better if npc's will start dropping rare weapons and group themselves into a cornucopias!

/me wonders what to do with his cavs. :(

Actually, I am a bit low on defensive troops at the moment while I transform my account into food production for obtaining 30 cities. I shouldn't admit that but I'm an honest guy that's very trusting of other Illyriad players.
