Continued developments from the Ministry of Mildly Related Things! More from this new, unreleased feature that's taking far too long to implement, the same area where the  http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/5nov13-realtime-combat-feed_topic5930.html" rel="nofollow - real-time combat feed  and the  http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/27nov14-player-and-town-growth-graphs_topic5990.html" rel="nofollow - Player and Town Growth Graphs  have come from. It's contextual chat info and it comes in two varieties!

Mentions

By default we select the normal and lower case versions of your name (or just lower case if its all lowercase) to act as the items that trigger chat lines to highlight:

However you can completely customize what highlights chat, if you have some nicknames or other terms you want to highlight; or you can completely remove them altogether. You access this via the Character Name page of Account & Preferences:

At the bottom you will see "Chat Highlighting Terms" where you can add and remove items:

As you can see above there is GM Rikoo in upper and lower case; but for this example I have also added GM in three varieties. The blue arrows point to spaces so rather than just highlighting when the letters GM are used anywhere in a word (though unlikely), it will only highlight when preceded by, followed by or has a space at the start and end - which may help with initials.

Also circled in red are the terms gold and orc, so these will also trigger the highlight. A use for this may be your alliance ticker so it will highlight when your alliance is mentioned.

The selected terms are per device/user (user+browser+computer) not per account so if you log into your alt or sitter swap you will have the same list and they won't have your list.

Alliance Relationship Highlighting

The other type of chat highlighting is a color indicator at the start of the chat line if you are in an alliance and your alliance has a diplomatic relationship with that player's alliance. This will show NAP, Confed and War indicators as below:

Other Tweaks
  • Alliance map off the Alliance page has been updated to use the Bitter Sea map as a background
  • Search Results panel now stays on screen; thus is visible, if you are scrolled down and search for something
  • Readability of the Notifications page has been improved (the font was very very very tiny)
  • As well as war declarations, accepted NAPs and confeds are now announced in global and alliance chat
  • Relationship offers to or from dead alliances have been removed and will be removed when alliances are marked dead
  • Accepting peace/ending war no longer causes an error
  • Growth chart legend is now on the left rather than the right of the graph
We hope you enjoy these enhancements! Leave any comments or questions below!

Please make the alliance relationship highlighting thing go away.  If I don't already know what alliance someone is in, I can easily determine that by clicking on their name.  I have no desire to see everyone categorized by what my alliance's relationship with them is.

At minimum, give us the option to turn this "feature" off.

Thanks!

THANK YOU for putting an OFF button on the pink personal name highlighting. An option to turn off the green/yellow/blue would be nice.

In AC, especially, the blue is overdone and unnecessary. I logged in to an entire line of solid blue down AC Chat, and now it's a dashed line because it's just me and someone else talking. If they're in my AC, I'm pretty sure that I know they're in my Alliance and don't need a blue line to determine that.

The color bars in GC are just really, really distracting. I don't know if anyone else finds it that way, or maybe it's only that way for someone with ADHD, but I more or less found it instantly  to be a visual distraction.

The re-vamp of the Notification's page? AWESOME. I can now read that without squinting. I really appreciate the larger type.

The chat colors are fun....Although mainly my alliance has just been tormenting each other with them so far xD

I agree that putting alliance-relation-colors in the options would be nice instead of forcing them on everyone. Choosing 'which' color for both types of highlighting would be nice too if possible.

Wow. The Notifications change is nearly unreadable. I used to be able to get a sense of things on one page, but now I'm just scrolling and scrolling and scrolling.

I like all of these changes, especially the notification page.

Making the colour identifiers optional would be ideal, and if the notifications could be restricted to two lines each (ie remove the 'x hours ago' note, and change date/time to 2 rather than 3 lines) that would be pretty fantastic.

All things considered though Thumbs Up

I like the larger notifications font, but font-size 13 is a bit too big.  Size 12 looks a lot better, in my view.

I know this is falling on deaf ears but I am going to say it anyway; why are you forcing the color pink on players?  Give us an option for another color if you want this "enhancement" to better our playing experience.  Right now I have deleted anything that would have my name because the color you all forced upon us reminds me of Pepto and it causes my eyes to do wonky things.

Pink is only acceptable when it has to do with Breast Cancer Awareness not in a Global Chat of a game.  Please come up with color options otherwise as far as I am concerned this "enhancement" was not needed.
