I was thinking, with the commanders how they are now, Why not have a double XP Day/ or weekend. As far as I know- the game has yet to see a player have a commander completely maxed out and as many know once you get past lvl 70ish they take alot of dead troops to keep moving up. This would give us a good reason to use some of these armies ppl have been stockpiling in anticipation for the next tourney.

Brilliant idea Duke, but make it interesting, perhaps not against NPC's, only PvP, that could let a few people vent their frustrations!

I'm pretty sure there's enough venting in gc already.  The air is barely breathable.

I like the idea of xp weekends! Kingdom of Loathing does something like this and it really works to break up the normal game routine. What if this were worked into the Moon cycle that's already in place? Right now the mana/research boost is rather useless. What if instead on every new moon troop production was boosted and every full moon xp was boosted?

I think this is a brilliant idea.  I've seen it in other games that I have played. 

There are a few ways that this could be done. 

1. Make it as a quest and the end prizes being an 'x' amount of exp.  Like an exp ball or something that you can click on to gain the exp within for whichever commander.

2. An option to buy the exp balls on the market?

3. Tournaments designed specifically for gaining experience, similar to the last tourney.

4.  NPC/PvP contests

That is just to name a few.  I like Beeck's and Dukie's ideas as well.

Tying it in with the moon cycle woukd be interesting; perhaps commander experience increases with the heightened energies of the full moon, but the more troops you've sent, the more chance there is that they'll fall under the spell of the moon and go berserk, slaughtering everyone in sight. Kind of like how there is a higher incident of emergency room visits during the the full moon?..

I don't agree with the moon cycle thing.  There is a difference between "depth" and "unnecessary complexity."  I think this crosses the line.  I might be willing to wait to cast a spell till the full moon, because I don't cast many spells.  However, if suddenly only one week in four becomes a "good" week to NPC hunt, I think that would detract from the fun.

Right there with ya. Full moon cycle giving double XP would be a fun addition! It would also be predictable and less random while encouraging military movement. 

Plus a full moon would bring a certain amount of fear and fun with it.
