We have temporarily disabled the graphical town chooser due to a number of issues players have been experiencing with it.

A regular drop-down box now serves this function.

Yeh I thought it was just me having issues. In the last couple weeks the display started jumping all over the place made it real hard to actually select the town I wanted.

Yeah, no scrolling anymore Clap.

I don't know if that's possible, but three lines of text containing all the Info, then a gap, then next town...  would offer FAR more overview than those pictures...

Don't get me wrong, those pictures are awsome, but please leave them out of the scrollbar Wink

Nice, simple but effective.

Would like to see town pop and location there. that's the missing part

Could you please include the population on it?   Plus the writing is very small (I know people can adjust resolution) for anyone with vision problems.  Could you set the default type face a couple of sizes larger please?

Other than that, it's fine.  I had no issues in my previous interface, but if this is the one we have to have, bigger and a pop number pls :)

Loads better than the previous drop down box. No more scrolling through the pictures to locate a city. Please please keep it this way.

"Name (pop[, Capital]) x|y" would be ideal for most.

With that, the non-enhanced version would be far preferable anyway.

The new drop down makes playing on an iPad much easier, too!

And I don't think the font size is too small either (like someone mentioned) - it's the same as the font for the resource overview which we've never had problems with.

As it is, it's neat, concise and most importantly makes switching between cities fast. Agree that listing pop alongside the city name would be good though - at least it's what everyone is used to.

Yes, please keep it this way. Thumbs Up

Now, if I could get a http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/dashboard-page-vital-info-from-all-cities_topic2426_post37416.html?" rel="nofollow - Dashboard page too, Illy UI would just perfect for me.

As others are saying, I actually like it the new way. I don't really mind not seeing the population or where the city is in the drop down, as I can just go to my profile for that information and seems kind of useless when selecting a city.

We need the city population back on the menu, "the Legendary City" information is pretty useless.  The population info is more specific and more useful IMHO.

The font isn't too small, but it should be black, if it isn't already.  (It appears to varying degrees dark brown to me in Chrome, Firefox, and Opera but that could all be sub-optimal sub-pixel hinting).

The only change I'd make other than adding real population count and location in place of population strings, is grouping by region.

If there is limited space, I'd just put "Name-- Pop # -- Region".

The x,y location imo is a less useful quick reference than the region, but the actual pop # is much more useful than the pop grouping...

@Kumo: html dropdowns support item groups natively, which results in one row per group with additional indented rows per item in that group.  The horizontal space taken would be minimal.  The important thing is that the city ordering and relation is much improved.

Thanks for fixing the problem.  I agree that having the population listed for the cities is nice, it means I don't have to go to my towns to see current populations.  I don't think it's necessary to tell players which city is their capital on the dropdown.  Do people forget which city is their capital?

Always know which city is my capital.  Sometimes Elgea and I agree to disagree.

I like the new one so much I don't ever want it to go back.

Now all we need is an "Empire Summary" page which lists all units/resources across all towns in one screen.

I also don't mind losing the graphic, but I'd like to keep some of the old information about the cities. For players who have their cities scattered all over the face of Illyriad (like me), listing what region the city is in makes it easier to quickly find at times. And the actual city population was more useful than "large city," though I don't find this information critical for the city selection drop-down.

Personally, I like it better. It's more compact and easier to select from :)

On a similar side note, I'd also happily get rid of the small icon in the advanced resources pop-up.
It makes lag the pop-up quite a bit; I realize it is my slow connection, still...

Yes, please. Similar to the http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/dashboard-page-vital-info-from-all-cities_topic2426_post37416.html?" rel="nofollow - Dashboard page .

I expect the decision is already made about whether the desirable end-point is to have the detailed drop-box or the (current) simple one; expressing a preference is moot, because the simple one is just a temporary compromise while the detailed one is debugged. I don't think anyone's playing experience has been compromised.

FWIW, I don't mind the new drop-box. It is good for me because I can see it all without moving the eye too much (whereas previously I had to move my eyes a lot), but I slightly miss the (non-essental) population count.

Slightly off-topic, but it was mentioned above:

As much as I'd like a Dashboard page, I don't think it will arrive soon (though I'll be glad if I have to eat my words).

Speculation: Depending how the game originally evolved from single towns to multiple towns, it might need a rewrite of the things that make your resource numbers change on-screen, and it would add substantial load to the servers (and your data usage).

Yes, we need the population back in that menu... it was such a great quick reference, meaning... "Oh, I'm going to increase my population today, what city should I focus on?"  Bam, pull down menu will tell ya where to go... NOW, player icon, towns, sort by size, sort again to get the largest first... four clicks versus one, just to get reference information.  Please

must be nice to have so many towns you can't remember how much population they have ...

i am in the "likes the new drop down much better than the old" camp.

also the empire resources page would be nice

also a page "all moving units" showing just that, all units moving from all your towns on a single page.

and a pony
