FREE DAILY PRESTIGE OR RESOURCES!

Hi all,

We've just released the ability for each and every player to claim an entirely free bonus every 24hrs!

You will find a new link at the top of the Front page of the Herald, underneath the server statistics summary that reads "Claim your FREE daily bonus now...".

Free resources are one of the bonuses, and we think this will help new players get up and running even sooner.

Free prestige is also one of the options!  And yes, we know that - so long as you log in for at least 5x24hr periods spread over a week - each and every player can now permarun an "active prestige account" and get the benefits such as extra zoom levels and resource production queueing.

WHAT YOU CAN CLAIM
You can claim one of the following free bonuses every 24 hours:
  • 1x Free Prestige point to spend as you wish
  • 500x Wood delivered to your city
  • 500x Clay delivered to your city
  • 500x Iron delivered to your city
  • 500x Stone delivered to your city
  • 500x Food delivered to your city
  • A resource pack - 100x each of Wood, Clay, Iron, Stone & Food
NOTES
  • You may claim this only once per account in any 24 hour period.
  • You will be notified on the "Daily Bonus" page if claiming a resource bonus would cause your current town's storage to overflow
  • You may not claim daily bonuses as an account sitter - you must be logged in as the account holder to claim
  • If you have more than one city, resource bonus claims will be delivered to the city you are currently focussed on; simply change cities to apply the reward elsewhere
We hope you find this a useful addition to the gameworld.

Regards,

SC

The resources are worthless, 1 prestige a day is where it is at!

We think players starting out in the game might prefer the resources, given that they have the 25 free prestige to start with - but not much to spend it on.

The daily bonus. Yes this is another spot on development for all sorts of reasons. New players wil benefit from this over period of time making regular "log ins" . It will also enable them to be more independent of the veteran players who mostly, for well meaning reasons, encourage a depenedency on welcome wagons and free res handouts.

Even with 1 prestige point per per day/ per log in. It is an incredibly generous gift.

Cheers Beer

So, I'm guessing this was created to encourage people to sign on daily and continue to grow, in the hopes that in the long run it'll result in people eventually purchasing prestige and outweighing the amount of money lost on the prestige handed out?

Ooh, Brids you cynic Wink

Seriously though... it's a way of rewarding active players, bumping up new player "things to do", and allowing players to keep an active prestige account without having to pay.

If players are then more likely to stay in the game then there is, indeed, a greater chance of them wanting to support it financially in some way - but there's no pressure to do so.

The long and short of it is that inactive players definitely don't buy prestige, but active players might - and if they don't we still love them anyway because it makes the gameworld more active for everyone.

I would imagine so.  It might also be an easier way (depending on underlying infrastructure) to identify accounts that are being sat but never directly accessed.

At any rate, it's a good bargain for players.

Just like to point out that the free resources could even be useful for advanced players if they want to start a new town on the other side of them map, waiting for that first caravan to arrive is a PAIN
Thanks GM's

Actually I can think of a good use for the 500x food pack for advanced players aswell.  Wink

But how about opening up the "resources instead of prestige" option for players more advanced than a week slightly? Perhaps some kind of sliding scale? Resources receivable in 24 hours is modified by a factor incorporating the number of cities a player has already?

res = 500 * 2^(n-1) where n is the total number of cities?

500 res for 1 city (or 100 of each resource)
1000 res for 2 city (or 200 of each)
2000 res for 3 city (or 400 of each)
...
128,000 res for 9 city (or 25,600 of each)
256,000 res for 10 city (or 51,200 of each)

Seems balanced to me? y/n?

If climb is slightly too steep you could modify the formula slightly... or you could just stop increasing the amount of resources after the 5th or 6th city or smthn. Just a thought. ^^

Oh i'd also like to make a suggestion, perhaps change the mechanics of the 1 free prestige so that a player must  have an active account or be below 5 prestige (can always activate account by waiting 5 days). Otherwise players could acumulate prestige too quickly without buying it.

In regards to advanced players and resources perhaps something like instantly recive 1000% of you hourly resource  production that would be about 200,000 for 5 X lvl.20 plots

Oops scratch that I just realised that the 20% increase per hour only equals 20X24X7=3360%per hour and costs 4 prestige so the instant resources would be better value Confused and so yeah to the previouse player the sliding scale is much to high also

This is what they call the 'trickle down' effect.

Createure has put forward one way in which the daily bonus could be developed Smile. I would like to suggest some more.

1. the bonus could continue as it is but in addition the  res rewards  for completing certain quests could be amended including 'Special Quests' linked to obtaining say magical items or mission objectives linked to the faction hubs.  They would have thier own story line with adventurous risks and suitable rewards in res and/or prestige. In effect a player would have to work to earn these bonuses;

2. free bonus awards could be introduced on special holidays where every player gets the chance to locate and discover these special gifts which would be placed randomley around the landscape of Illryiad.  Thinking further on this - wouldn't it be great for the community if this was linked to one of the late greats and was called 'Shrapnel's Bounty' or some such;

These are just a couple of ideas to mull over Lamp

Some things very like both of these ideas are already in motion.
