This is in part a heads-up, and in part me seeking advice....

For a few weeks, we've had diplo attacks up in the frozen north, Thief and Sab attacks against Frost, Absa and unaligned players. We knew the perpetrator was an Elf, and knew the rough direction of approach, but hadn't managed to chase any diplos home.

Then the guys at Eagles' Eyrie informed us that one of their members had left EE and started attacking and taunting them. And guess what, an elf on the right vector to be behind our diplo attacks....

So, EE defeated the guy's armies, and Frost have been sending Feints and now Blockades in order to "express our concern".

My email to his was pretty clear:

Natalas -

There are two related issues here:

  • Hath at Eagles' Eyrie has made it clear that he expects you to stop attacking EE
  • In case it was not obvious, Frost and Absa expect to see no more diplomatic attacks (or military attacks!) in this region - against our members or any other active players.

We eagerly await your assurances - and some indication of why we should believe them.

Natalas has stopped talking to Hath, and I have not yet heard anything from him.

So, pretty straight forward. But...

I'm wondering what we can constructively request of Natalas to show his good faith. If all he has to do is say "yeah, yeah, I'll be nice..." then that's easy - and ties him to nothing, simply allowing him to buy as much time as he wants to rebuild his forces. On the other hand I have no desire to destroy his towns just cos he has been a bit of a prat (I don't think his aggressions have done any significant damage - so razing a town seems disproportionate!) and he's too early in the game for us to demand that he Exodus away.

So, slightly stumped here. Happy to hear all (half-way sane!) opinions.

Thanks,

Kurdruk

Trying to generalize the case, how a player could show his/her good faith ? Even if he want to collaborate ?

If it was a case when a player used armies, you could ask him to let you visit his city with spies and scouts, and keep units under a level ... at least for a stated time.
But with diplo offences, he would have to give you a sitting so you can verify...
Dunno if it is likely to work...

May be you have just to be faithful and hope for the best.

Or you could just visit his city with scouts and spies anyway.  This guy has like 4k total pop.  Assuming he even cares to come to terms, which he may not.  This guy is honestly probably just going out with a bang, since he isn't responding.

Is there a problem to calm her down, without razing her two settlements? She would soon stop after finding her warehouses empty, each time she log. Unless she is masochist.

Good comments, thank you. All much appreciated.

We'll keep the pressure up, hope for a reply, and watch to see if s/he is still playing (pop is currently 3377 + 188).

Thanks,

Kurdruk

LordOfTheSwamp, others,

I'll give you some background.

Natalas came to this game  together with a few colleagues, to blow of some steam. Most of them ended up in EE. For some of them it always was the intention to attack the others, regardless of being in the same alliance or not. Not for all of them, but certainly for Natalas.

Like most alliances, EE does not tolerate this. After one of the others refused to listen and was kicked, Natalas decided to go out with a bang, leaving the alliance and attacking one of our other members.

We have tried to reason with him, but all HATH got back were childlishly insulting replies. HATH put him on his number by telling him for the child he is (in behaviour). So I can understand Natalas not daring to send a message or reply to HATH again.

As I said, he's bored with the game already, so no need to try reasoning with him. He's only out there to be obnoxious.

So why exactly can't you demand that this guy exodus far away or be sieged?

You can demand that.

He won't exodus, since he doesn't care about the game much anymore (his own words).

I am answering LOTS's and others' questions here.

CK, that was very useful, thanks.

Kumomoto, the guy's too small to Exodus. And as a new / small player it seemed overkill to trash him for behaviour that would have been normal in other games.

But I guess if he's quitting  the game, then it's all rather moot!
