I prefer my map zoomed out 3 levels, but every time I log on, it is back to default.

How about a user setting for zoom level, or saving current zoom level when we log off?

Plus we need it to zoom further out and if they made it so you could zoom futher we should have little symbols to stand for resources and wolf pack etc.

You can always manually edit the top navbar link from

...view_map.asp?Radius=2&CenterX=...
to
...view_map.asp?Radius=6&CenterX=...

Although, to be fair, I don't do that often either, I usually just click four times on zoom out instead, so I agree that the default maximum-zoom-in isn't really attractive in the long run.
There are several possible approaches, from allowing people to select their own default zoom level, to changing the default zoom level to somewhere in the middle, or even adding two more options for direct maximum zoom out/in.
Saving the default between logins might also be possible, I suppose, and probably more attractive in the long run.
