Topic: Magic.... Posted: 09 Mar 2010 at 16:01 |
Hello World,
I got a question regarding magic. I got a lvl 3 Mage Tower. I researched Arcana and Geomancy and Spirit of Earth.
Now i want to research Blights or Runes. But when i click the research button, i get this:
Unable to start Research!
You cannot research another school of magic until you have researched Principia Magica
So Blights and Runes are another school? And i just need to research Principia Magica? Why are they available for research then?
Greetings from another world.

They shouldn't be available... it's one of the things on the Todo list!
Basically, you can have up to 5 schools of magic per city.
1 at Mage Tower L 1 with Arcana 2 at Mage Tower L 5 with Principia Magica etc up to 5 and Mage Tower L 20
Once you've chosen a school of magic, that's it till you can upgrade.
We totally understand that we only have 3 current schools of magic (potentially taking someone up to L14 Mage Tower) - but more are in the works!
But yes, these should be greyed out until they're available again (with the next major skill researched such as Principia Magica), and we should probably have a popup so that when you choose a school (or highlight the available school itself) to make sure players understand they are making an irrevocable choice of a school of magic in that city.
It's the same, btw, with the Command School - you can only research 1 command skill per level of your barracks, although they do all show as "Researchable" on the summary page.
UI fixes en route!

Thanks for the quick response. Illyriad Admin is someone of the dev team and not GM Stormcrow?

Haha, Wuzzel you think someone on the dev team would go out of their way to create so much work for the dev team? ;-)

Heh, yes: Illyriad Admin = GM Stormcrow in this instance: but not always. I was logged in as the admin to add the new forum for suggestions, and forgot to switch back. The Illyriad Admin account is sometimes grabbed by other people at Illyriad, largely as an administrative thang, so you can't rely on it being me!

I reserve the right to pretend it wasn't me, and thus transfer blame to an unnamed individual

I'm the red headed step child of the GM team... When they let me out of my dungeon, I'll post occasionally, but, alas, it's seldom...
Storm Crow is a tough master... Makes Sauron look like Nancy Drew...
