Hucbold, when he could focus beyond name calling, brought up an interesting idea.  Why is the requirement to raze the same as that to capture a city?  Should there even been a raze option?  If an enemy cannot capture then perhaps continued bombardment is necessary to reach a zero (or very low, let's say 7) population before the city is considered to be destroyed/razed.

Without considering the above change, what if a razed city was left in a state of ruins for a given period (7 days, 14, days, a full moon cycle) before a new city could be occupy the square.  Any pre-existing terraform would also reset.

Lastly, we can currently produce two siege engines, one for walls and another for buildings, what about the use of siege blocks to create defensive artillery?  I guess that will be introduced along with naval vessels.

Enough innovation for today...

Bringing city pop down to 1 or 10 or 100 is probably more cruel then razing. Once a town is razed the player can settle a new town that can grow a lot faster then a city on a location where it will continue to be a target.

I disagree with you Corwin. I would much rather have a city with 1pop and complete research than a city with 6k pop (after siege for example) with half done research.
It is a pain for an established player to rebuild a city but not nearly as much as starting from scratch.

That's not the options you get. It's a used up city slot or the chance to settle (or siege) a new town. The way it is now you can capture a new town after you lost one. What is proposed leaves you with a useless town that has all research done.
