A lot of pixels have been spilled over the years on what constitutes a mature gamer. I would like to propose a definition:
A mature gamer is a player whose leisure life is varied, ensures that their time spent in the game is rewarding, and whose game life's effects on the rest of their life is a net positive. Mature gamers in Illyiriad do not procrastinate all that often on AC. They are good at ensuring that the time they spend in the game is what they choose to spend. Mature gamers can see the playful aspect of big setbacks in the game. Mature gamers can handle negative interactions with other players. They generally like the time they spend with other gamers and they can put emotional distance between themselves and players who they don't get along with. Mature gamers in Illyriad are quite likely to enjoy the military aspects of the game, but they might find other aspects more rewarding, such as 'meeting' new players or the trade dimension. Is this the sort of thing that H? were after when they started this conversation? |

It's the difference between enjoying a game of Risk where everyone uses all the tricks legally available to win and then moving on whatever the result, or taking each move a player made against you personally and letting it negatively affect your life outside the game.
That would be called childish in real life, but the significantly greater emotional and time investments people make into long-term games like EVE, Illyriad, or other MMOs, [as well as the shield of internet anonymity] often serve to confuse the issue. Most folks here, myself included, probably enjoy the addictive nature of these online games, but poorly managed addictions cause problems. |

An immature player is one who disagrees with particular individuals on GC, one who supposedly needs to 'grow up', which is code for 'stop disagreeing with me'.

It doesn't matter who is or isn't. No one needs to be said they are something because it is your opinion.
