The Guardians of Zera: a faction mystery
Every once in a while, the Guardians of Zera make a journey starting from Dunbar in northern Norweld. They do not normally patrol the areas around their trade hubs, and the only time we see them is during a journey. The GoZ makes a journey that takes 2 to 3 weeks across northern Elgea through the following regions: northern Norweld, Windlost, Ursor, Wolgast, and Kal Tirikan. They move at about 5 sq/hr, travel for an average of 10 hours at a time, then rest for 1-2 hours. They travel an average of 50 sq in a 10 hour stretch, sometimes less, sometimes more. (note: edited with correct numbers). This is a graphical representation of their pathway during one journey, and it includes a battle site where they fought the Crimson Dawn and camps of other factions. http://www.onlinecharttool.com/graph/view/8a44c216204a This is the spreadsheet I use to keep track of their locations and to play around with the data. I have documented 3 journeys, and will be adding data for the current 4th journey as it happens. https://docs.zoho.com/sheet/published.do?rid=2xguu05ccd06ab4a64017bb55d3fe0ee2a621 Currently, at the time of this writing, the GoZ is camped in the middle of Kal Tirikan here https://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/-392/703 With these troops I predict that when they break camp, they will go to the east toward Wolgast, and I expect them to travel all the way to Ursor, near this location http://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/319/645 What is the mystery? I think that this faction is the key to unlocking Ancient Pattern Armour , and I think that they are looking for the lost ruins of the ancient city of Zera that fell during the First Age. I think Zera is in Ursor, or in the middle of Kal Tirikan near where they are currently camped. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Ancient Pattern Armour [@c=161] The pattern for crafting plate armour at the end of the First Age was, it is widely believed, the finest ever devised. The Dwarves say that this pattern was revealed to them by their gods. However, most folk have long forgotten how to construct plate armour along these lines, and only a few still have the knowledge. These few can adapt existing plate armour, like this, to provide a better fit to allow more mobility, and with fewer weak spots. The cover provided by this pattern is almost complete, which is a problem only in extreme weather conditions, where the close proximity of metal to flesh can burn or freeze the wearer too easily. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ What do we do? We keep track of all of their camp locations and also the camps of other factions in the area. Other factions include: Crimson Dawn Fyrgis Illyria Trade Council Council of Illyria Tewhirrus Blood Reavers Barbarians Northmen Nordlanders Foshnu Ob Wulpor Drangu Mundas Some pics of the GoZ: GoZ camped in northern Wolgast with the Northmen camped nearby GoZ camped in Windlost with Fyrgis camped nearby GoZ and Council of Illyria camped in Windlost GoZ and Blood Reavers camped in Wolgast GoZ approaching Crimson Dawn 2 minutes later, GoZ defeats Crimson Dawn **Please post camp locations and movements on this thread** Edited by Freyja - 07 Jan 2017 at 02:56 |

They're on the move again and headed east, so now, they're headed toward Wolgast. Crimson Dawn has 2 camps to the south and the Northmen are on patrol also.
This was the farthest west I've seen them camp, sort of the "heart of Kal Tirikan." Which reminds me of this quote from the Barbarians summary ... Under the rule of King Lentas of Illyria, the first great cleansing was called upon the tribes of Kal Tirikan. Rallied under the banner of the Guardians of Zera, those of true faith gathered for the great cleansing. Matching through the Norweld and into the very heart of Kal Tirikan they laid waste to the barbarian villages, burning the forests and slaughtering the creatures upon whos flesh the wildmen would feast. This is a previous camp location from their 4th journey, near where they are now: http://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/-379/693 Edited by Freyja - 06 Jan 2017 at 17:55 |

Moving east on the map toward Wolgast, Crimson Dawn is waiting for them.

Look like they are only camping in standing stones, deserted monistary, ruined towers and barrows? Building sites?? Seen them camp anywhere else?

They always camp on an NPC square.
They travel an average of about 50 squares and then pick any unoccupied NPC square to make camp. Some areas have more animals and they'll just go to the next NPC that isn't occupied. |
