For the record, the Times has published without edits 100% of user/reader comments. No commenter's comment has ever been trashed or spammed -- for any reason. 

In fact, the moderation feature has been turned off for more than a week now, which allows people to insta-post comments without a moderation delay. (Comments are still being reviewed and are still subject to editing/deletion if they stray outside the scope of our own Code of Conduct). But we will turn the moderation delay feature back on if users begin to abuse the freedom.

We encourage both sides of the political divide within the to comment and debate in the comments section of the Times. A more balanced mixture of commenters would be and is most welcome.
