We have just loosened the rules on historic names. Previously, if a name had ever been used by any account registration in the history of Illyriad, that name could never be used again. Now, names belonging to an active account (or any of that account's name changes, for free or paid) cannot be used again. Also, names belonging to an abandoned or banned account (and its name changes) that was active within the last 56 days cannot be reused. The exception to this: an account that has changed its name can change their name back to one they have previously used. In other words, if a name has not been used in 56 days it can be claimed by someone else. The account auto-abandonment rules are outlined here: http://www.illyriad.co.uk/Support/Account with the 60 and 90 day auto-abandoned accounts names being available immediately after abandonment. It can be a little confusing, so feel free to post or IGM me with any questions! GM Rikoo

Golly, this is a spectacular thing, Awesome idea from our Dev team as I know there are a ton of names that were used by players who played for an hour and abandoned. Thanks a ton

Brilliant idea... I didn't know that rule had been in place all this time. But still, a brilliant idea.

Great Idea, Old Names Inspire Fear, as the player may have been good, or the name is a good one.
