Blah the questions need re-vamping. Everyone answers them the same way and you really don't learn about player's personalities. Work with Beau from Massively or something and come up with questions even I might want to answer. That is a big MIGHT. Maybe like questions geared towards each player and what they have contributed.
Do NOT nominate me people. These questions are over asked and you learn nothing about the player's personality. I have no interest in this Spotlight stuff unless there is some serious re-vampage and creativity geared towards each player. Every player is different and these questions make everyone sound the same. Community makes them stay. Mail system is a pain. They were searching for a game to play. They have a RL outside the game. Broken record, broken record. Rikoo, make this Player Spotlight your baby and get away from Luna's broken record nonsense. I know you must be creative or you would not have made some of the changes you have and the devs would not have made you Community Manager. Take the reasons people give you for nominations and gear questions towards that. Come on show me you have what it takes to make even me, one of the most unwilling players, to want to participate in this.

Instead of asking to change the questions, we should suggest the new questions.
This way our Devs can just choose the question they deem to be apt and Put it forward in an Interview accordingly. |

I suggest: What is the first thing you do when you log on to Illy in the morning?
Also: If you have one unfulfilled wish for Illyriad, something you think the developers would NEVER do but you wish they would, what is it? There are a lot of other good ones ...

Go for it! I agree, the questions might be getting a little stale. Feel free to suggest some and I will probably pull some out of the thread. Gm Rikoo

How about: Is there anything you've done in Illyriad that you regret? What is it?
or along a similar line ... What is the biggest "mistake" you've made in Illyriad? And how did you recover from it?

Eeeehhhhmmmm ... anyway, the solution is pretty easy ... you just do not have set questions for every spotlight, but you tailor-make the questions depending on which player is nominated. Simple as that ... |

Plenty of work for the taylor it would be ... ... thus let there be more taylors Thus my suggestion: nominate the man woman, dwarf, dwarferina, orc,... first. Then leave it one week to gather specific questions (best via mail) from the community (I guess even a omnipotent chat god might forget some details on every player there is in Illy...). Finally do the interview with, well, quite a part of the standart questions plus assorted, community generated special questions. ...you could even confront him with some funny anecdotes told by his mates I don't know if this might actually turn out in too much work to administer, but might lead into even more participation...

+1 to all the ideas! Come on we can make this far more interesting than it is currently. My answers to the questions that are used would be more of the broken record and some don't want to be apart of something like that. I think that is why it got so hard for Luna to keep it going. It also makes it hard for people to nominate players because it is cookie cutter. It is also why you get no's from some players the community would like to see participate.
I keep getting people saying they would like to see me participate. As long as it is stale and over done as it is, I won't. To me it is no longer an honor to be singled out if you are going to be singled out just like every other person that has had the spotlight put on them. Maybe those that nominate should nominate with a story about the player or a question they would like answered by the player. It would have to be kept clean and the # of questions should be limited to a certain amount. Then have a panel (maybe previous Spotlight Winners) vote privately on the best questions/stories they would like included in that players questionnaire. Then the player that is nominated gets a surprise on what they get to reminisce about or answer. You will get feed back from the peers if they know it is something that player will be embarrassed about or keep runner up questions in reserve if they come across something they don't want to discuss. I know a lot of these Spotlighters are upstanding amazing individuals and they would not try to sabotage anyone else's experience in this program. They would have to be ones that know the player well and can weed out craziness or embarrassment. Just an idea to help with the craziness, but it would make it much more interesting. I honestly right now, just do a cursory check of the answers now because the answers are basically all the same. I don't really learn anything new about anyone. It isn't unique to the player and it should be. That is what being in the Spotlight is all about or in my book should be.

(Luvs - idk how to quote on this jimmer) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Anyway, yes, that is a great idea, having players come up with questions. A++ gold star. The panel thing might be tough to organize, though. Might be easier to do a poll on the forums or just have Rikoo pick the most commonly asked / best questions.

I like the idea of different questions, but I disagree that it is not an honor. It is an honor because other players indicate their regard for you by nominating you. Anything other than that is just gravy, really.
