So you'd rather settle a city than capture one? As far as I know you're a minority in that respect... |
Inactive accounts bring the game down, it does the same in every other internet game out there. Besides, most of those inactive accounts are still in alliances. First, you have to send a letter to an inactive account to see if they respond, then you have to ask permission from the alliance that the inactive account is in...The rules need to change. Way too many good games out there are slowly dying because the devs refuse to delete old accounts taking up space, player names, etc... Epidemic is not my regular game name. I came close to not playing this game because it was already taken, probably by an inactive account.

totally agree, there is no reason to keep them past thirty days, so many are using these dead accounts for advantage, basically they ruining the game for new players....many friends have quit the game cause of them and again their accounts are just adding to the inactive problem...i see several over 120 days...many over 60 days and thats just crazy, i be interested how long innobles account is listed even though he took the high road and abandoned. those should be instant or longest 7 days

But you just end up swinging from one extreme to the other. This too, drives away many players.

those are people that quit the game, why are their castles here longer than 7 days? so others can use them to their advantage?, this is exactly what new people in the game dont want to see, older players using quitters locations for their advantage and keeping prime locations away from them

Yes, that's correct.

I don't see how older players can utilize these spots, seeing how most of them have reached 10 cities.

they use them for resources and to hold the area for their alliances, they make excellent storage areas, all u have to do to keep them there is to do minor attack against them and the account gets a reset, these are totally cluttering the map and taking prime locations, this game is becoming territory control game,...if these accounts disappear and the ones that the user logs in once a month or less u be amazed how much prime land will open and how that land could be used for strategy, you will also see an increase of the older alliances trying to get new members, so many of us are slack in doing this, it be a gamer changer, the game would become active not the lackluster game it is becoming because of the inactive play

If an alliance is letting it's inactive players sit on prime map locations, then that alliance is a) totally inactive or b) managed very, very badly.

They make worse storage areas than active cities, since in order to retrieve your resources you need to send lots of thieves, which are unreliable if you need a single resource, and also you can't see when a threat is approaching the city.

This makes absolutely no sense in relation to the rest of your post.

You mean strategy other than the strategies for utilizing the inactive cities you described earlier in your post, right?

Oddly enough, many people don't find the game lackluster. Maybe it's why they continue to play it. If you really have such qualms about how stagnant the game is becoming, please leave. Or failing that, quit posting stupid comments on the forum and learn how to punctuate.

Depending on the size of the account and whether the owner bought prestige, inactives get deleted every 4, 7, 14, 30, 45, 60 or 90 days.
(see the July game update http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/6july2012-enforced-account-removal_topic3771.html)
So I think the probem that is being complained about in this post has already been fixed basically... unless there is a bug making some towns not vanish in which case there should be a petition about it.
But around me I always see inactives being deleted fairly quickly. In fact, myself and friends always race to try to siege an abandoned or inactive town before the game deletes it. Which is fine... they shouldn't stay around longer... but making them disappear even faster would make it hard to ever siege without filling the game with war just in order to make a town.
There are always new inactives appearing because people try the game for awhile and then quit. But in terms of room (at least outside of the starter circle) it is the actives filling up everything. There simply isn't enough room on the map for the number of people who want to play the game so some people do quit because of space issues.
The game is liked enough I think the map would fill with actives pretty quickly even if it were made bigger. Although then at least we would have room to breath for awhile.

Q: Is it possible to play the game well in crowded conditions?
If you answered "no", then: - Do you know how to play as well as you can in crowded conditions? - Do you think new players will grasp the idea that it's crowded and that there are ways to grow in these circumstances?
What interesting conflicts will arise in these crowded conditions?
Further: it's going to get a lot more crowded. There are a lot of people out there who have not discovered this game. New crowding conditions will force some 'variables' that were previously unimportant, and the game mechanics (that were previously just one of many options) can help you solve these problems in interesting ways.

Why not ask Mrs Trellis of North Wales?
