We have made a change to the way suspended accounts now display in game. Players who have voluntarily suspended their own accounts now show as (Abandoned) after their player name. GM suspended accounts will no longer publicly display the (Suspended) tag. Notice of suspension (as always) goes to the email address attached to the player's account and will display a "suspended account" error upon attempts to log in.
There are a couple of reasons for this change. First, to clear up confusion when a player abandons their own account. Often people speculate that they've had a GM suspension, which isn't correct, and flood the petition queue with questions about the status of the account. Since GMs can't comment on the status of accounts to anyone other than the account holder, this creates unnecessary confusion and distress.
The second reason relates to privacy concerns. If a player is GM suspended, having it publicly labeled goes against our own desires to maintain the privacy of account status and moderation decisions with our players. It also tends to create a lot of unnecessary questions about "why was so-and-so suspended" that GMs can't and won't answer anyway.
This change has been applied retroactively and will continue from this day forward. (There may still be a few lingering accounts that list as "suspended" rather than "abandoned" but those will be the last that list this way.)
As always, keep in mind that voluntarily abandoning your account is a permanent action that cannot be reversed by GMs.
*edit*
A pop-up warning now displays when you visit the map page and have your browser zoom level set above 100%. This is in a response to a high volume of petitions about map lag and performance that has been tracked down as related to browser zoom level. This message will only display once per session.
