Topic: 04MAY11 - Free daily prestige / resources Posted: 04 May 2011 at 18:31 |
FREE DAILY PRESTIGE OR RESOURCES!Hi all, We've just released the ability for each and every player to claim an entirely free bonus every 24hrs! You will find a new link at the top of the Front page of the Herald, underneath the server statistics summary that reads " Claim your FREE daily bonus now...". Free resources are one of the bonuses, and we think this will help new players get up and running even sooner. Free prestige
is also one of the options! And yes, we know that - so long as you log
in for at least 5x24hr periods spread over a week - each and every
player can now permarun an "active prestige account" and get the
benefits such as extra zoom levels and resource production queueing. WHAT YOU CAN CLAIM
You can claim one of the following free bonuses every 24 hours: - 1x Free Prestige point to spend as you wish
- 500x Wood delivered to your city
- 500x Clay delivered to your city
- 500x Iron delivered to your city
- 500x Stone delivered to your city
- 500x Food delivered to your city
- A resource pack - 100x each of Wood, Clay, Iron, Stone & Food
NOTES- You may claim this only once per account in any 24 hour period.
- You will be notified on the "Daily Bonus" page if claiming a resource bonus would cause your current town's storage to overflow
- You may not claim daily bonuses as an account sitter - you must be logged in as the account holder to claim
- If you have more than one city, resource bonus claims will be delivered to the city you are currently focussed on; simply change cities to apply the reward elsewhere
We hope you find this a useful addition to the gameworld. Regards, SC

The resources are worthless, 1 prestige a day is where it is at!

We think players starting out in the game might prefer the resources, given that they have the 25 free prestige to start with - but not much to spend it on. SC

The daily bonus. Yes this is another spot on development for all sorts of reasons. New players wil benefit from this over period of time making regular "log ins" . It will also enable them to be more independent of the veteran players who mostly, for well meaning reasons, encourage a depenedency on welcome wagons and free res handouts. Even with 1 prestige point per per day/ per log in. It is an incredibly generous gift. Cheers

So, I'm guessing this was created to encourage people to sign on daily and continue to grow, in the hopes that in the long run it'll result in people eventually purchasing prestige and outweighing the amount of money lost on the prestige handed out?

Ooh, Brids you cynic Seriously though... it's a way of rewarding active players, bumping up new player "things to do", and allowing players to keep an active prestige account without having to pay. If players are then more likely to stay in the game then there is, indeed, a greater chance of them wanting to support it financially in some way - but there's no pressure to do so. The long and short of it is that inactive players definitely don't buy prestige, but active players might - and if they don't we still love them anyway because it makes the gameworld more active for everyone. I would imagine so. It might also be an easier way (depending on underlying infrastructure) to identify accounts that are being sat but never directly accessed.
At any rate, it's a good bargain for players.
