I am asking this out of simple curiosity (and i one day hope to beat it). It is also interesting, because it will be luck-based (they'll have not sent rss to a trade hub, or have anti-thief measures) and the cost of being caught is immense (unless they don't care).

Q above doesn't count heists on abandoned players.

Having this sort of conversation is great!
My personal record in terms of value (items thieved converted to gold value) was a thief hit using only around 30k dwarven T2 halfling thieves at a neutral target, getting over 120k saddles, as well as chainmail, leather armor and books in the 50k range.

There are some pretty massive thieving armies and good hits that are out there. Hope more will share.

On top of that one thief hit I have had several others close to it. Trade hubs aren't always used on farms :)

The RIF. I made billions out of that! I didn't bother to keep track though so an exact total isn't really possible... Got to be at least 3-4 though....
This is the thread that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friend. Some person started it, not knowing what it was, and we'll continue posting on it forever just because...
