I read an article in Illyriad Warmonger, featuring a Table of military unit production at sov 200%.

I imagine it has something to do with claiming sov and building relevant building on it.
What does 200% exactly mean? I read it gives 5% reduction in building time per level of building. So - in total it would give 25% per 5 levels, so 200% per 8 tiles with maxed relevant sov?

And another question - is 200% the “golden standard” for average military town? More would no more be cost efficient or sustainable?

Military sovereignty adds a bonus to troop production speeds. +200% is 3x base troop production (100% base + 200% bonus). It corresponds to 20x sov II. Each level is a base +5% bonus. The basic resource consumption for military sov is 150 (1), 300 (2), 600 (3), 1200 (4), 2400 (5).

200% is typical. Anything less wouldn't be considered a military town. 300% (4x) 20x sov III is quite good. Beyond that, you arrive at a point of diminishing returns for each additional +5%.

Understood.

Further question.
Am I right to assume that during growing process one first does all res to 20 lvl and only then go claiming (military) sov? Or res to say 15 is already sufficient for that?

Level 15 is enough to reach 200% Sov easily.
Also you can build res boosters to give a little boost if you like.

With res boosters you mean the in-city buildings (kiln, etc) or sov boosters?

The former.

If you have a good alliance, it is very easy to finish your basic resource plots once you get them high enough. You have 18-20 basic resource plots. Completing 2 levels costs 3 prestige. Level 16 to 20 is 2x double levels (6 prestige). That's 120 prestige to finish all 20 plots. A fresh capture and exodus should have most plots at 12.

200% troop sov costs 6000 basic res per hour (20x lvl 2 sovs) so as long as you can cover that you're fine

You can reach higher sov by designing your cities for troop production only.

greater than 200%. :D

That's 8 Level 5 Sov and 12 Level 3 Sov = total of 20 squares hitting 380% minimum troop production. Net of Troop Bonus, etc.

Prerequisites
  • Make sure all your basic res plots at level 20.
  • Building res boosting buildings like, carpentry, kiln, foundry, stonemason all at lvl 20.
  • Keep your T3 Buildings at lvl 12, 3 of them.
  • tax at 40%
  • pop at minimum like 12K - 15K.
Donts:
  • do not mix 2 sets of troop type in a city.
  • do not build geo retreat in the city, both will eat basic res and restricts you from reaching 380%

Well these setup are favorable to orc who just build kobolds, but for other troop type. it might be difficult to combine production of t2 res + a higher troop sov.

Enjoy tweaking sov!
